Theobroma cacao L. is the scientific name for the cacao tree. In Greek, theobroma means "food of the gods." Cocoa beans were a product highly valued by the high society of empires as important as the Mayans and Aztecs, who also used the beans as a bargaining chip. The cocoa tree produces large, oval fruits full of a bittersweet pulp that contains between 30 and 50 seeds from which raw cocoa is obtained.

Our contribution to the development of the sector, environmental and social policies strengthen our commitment to cocoa communities throughout the national territory.
