Our farmers have achieved great improvements in the past years. Many have freed themselves of debts and built new houses. Nevertheless, some still lack adequate equipment for their cocoa fermentation and drying facilities and their wives are without basic household appliances that would greatly facilitate their daily work.
CONACADO assists its members in exploring complementary sources of income like locally selling agricultural products as well as cocoa plants or native criollo chocolate and cocoa wine produced by women’s groups. CONACADO's future success depends on more than just our organization’s will and commitment, clients and consumers play a very important role. Thus, in the future, we expect consumers to value the considerable efforts necessary to organize small scale growers. We require clients who are willing to commit to long-term commercial relationships based on fair prices. Ultimately, we seek consumers that are able to appreciate great chocolate and who are willing to pay a little more for a product that favors social development and the conservation of our planet. |
