Furthermore, they lend us money with great conditions. Before, the large exporters determined the prices and one day, my father had to sell his house to reimburse the loans that he had received. Now, it is very easy to obtain loans and with this money we can, for example, pay laborers that clean the property after the harvest. This is very important for good farm management.!"
I never liked using chemicals because it damages the bananas, mangos and other crops. Now, as an organic producer, this doesn’t happen and the quality of the cocoa has greatly improved. Furthermore, the Block helps us to transport the cocoa. I only have to cut down the cocoa and they find it on my property. Improved quality and good organization have given me the assurancethat I will always obtain a fair price.
I can rely on the Block and the income from the incentives to significantly help my family. I have 5 children and 12 grand children and they are now able to attend school and I can feed them a better diet. Last year, we built ourselves a new house. Some arrangements have yet to be finalized but I am certain that we will complete everything within the next year." |
